House and gardens was born out of the Great Fire of Tullamore and has been a constant presence in the heart of Tullamore town for nearly a quarter of a millennium. No. 6 High Street, Tullamore, is one of the oldest continuously occupied period homes in Tullamore, having remained in continuous residential occupancy for more than 240 years.    

The building’s numerous occupants, including; Saddlers, Judges, Lawyers, Doctors, Bankers and Shopkeepers represent in themselves a tapestry of the history of Tullamore’s development throughout the ages. No 6 is both a “Protected Structure” under Offaly County Council and was granted “Regional Status” According to the Garner Buildings of Tullamore for the An Foras Forbartha survey of 1979.
